Krugman Blogs

paul-krugman.jpgPaul Krugman now has a free blog on the the New York Times website. Even though his first post indulges in self-promotion–he opens his post with a quote from his own new book–I’m sure it’s quickly going to become a hot spot on the web.

Eribon on the PS

Posted by Marcos Ancelovici on September 11, 2007

eribon-photografie-par-sebastien-dolidon.jpgRue89.com recently published a speech that French philosopher Didier Éribon, author of a great biography of Michel Foucault, delivered at the summer university of the French Socialist Party (PS). In this piece, Éribon develops a very harsh critique of the shift to the right of the PS. Even though some points are a bit unfair to the PS, I think Éribon is right on target when he stresses the PS’s opportunism and disconnect from the dynamism of civil society. Rather than engaging in a sustained dialogue with the latter, the PS has been exhibiting a growing contempt that is reflected in its avant-garde posture. It’s a pity it took it so long to realize few people were actually following it…
